Cobra Aerojet

For a number of years, Cobra has been producing high-quality clubs, winning them many fans who have become loyal to the brand.

When we look at their driver offering over the past 5 years, they have consistently produced clubs that perform exceptionally well.

Cobra also attracted attention as their drivers were priced at least £100 ($120) cheaper than some of the other top brands’ new offerings.

Having the likes of Rickie Fowler, Bryson Dechambeau (until January 2023) and long-drive champion Kyle Berkshire gives Cobra an air of “cool” about it.

Another big-hitter and former U.S. Open champion, Gary Woodland signed with Cobra in 2023.

For 2023, Cobra gives us the Aerojet range and we’re excited to see how these clubs stack up for golfers against some pretty stiff competition this year.

The Aerojet range consists of:

  • Drivers
  • Fairway woods
  • Hybrids

 Cobra Aerojet

Drivers

Cobra has three new Aerojet drivers for this season:

  • Aerojet
  • Aerojet LS
  • Aerojet Max

We’ll take you through each model separately but first, let's look at the shared technology in these driver heads.

Carbon crown and sole

Carbon is slowly replacing titanium as the material of choice for driver heads.

In the Aerojet driver range we see a carbon composite crown and sole.

Carbon offers the designers weight-saving properties which they can redistribute back into the head to add additional stability.

Using carbon also helps to increase clubhead speed for any golfer due to its lighter properties compared to titanium counterparts.

Advanced Aerodynamic Shaping

Cobra has done some redesigning work on the head to give it a better symmetrical shape and streamlined the edges to give an all-around better aerodynamic performance and help increase club head speed.

The new shaping is progressive throughout the three heads with the LS model being the most aggressive with a raised skirt design at the rear of the head to make it more efficient through the air.

PWR-Bridge weighting

New technology introduced in the Aerojet family is PWR-Bridge weighting.

The PWR-Bridge weighting is a 13-gram suspended weight that is positioned close to the bottom of the face internally.

Cobra argues that this new technology stabilises the head and helps keep ball speeds consistent across the face giving a more stable driver on mishits and keeping spin and launch angles consistent as well.

Given the position of the PWR-Bridge close to the bottom of the face, this really helps golfers who consistently hit the ball lower in the face which normally produces high-spinning weak flighted shots.

PWRSHELL with H.O.T Face

PWRSHELL with H.O.T Face replaces Cobra’s CNC Milled face technology which had featured on their drivers going back to the F8 model of 2018.

The new PWRSHELL with H.O.T Face is designed by artificial intelligence and varies the thickness across the inside of the face.

This creates 15 hotspots that help deliver consistent ball speeds, launch and spin rates across the face adding to the overall stability of the driver.

Adjustable Loft

Loft can be altered by up to plus or minus 1.5 degrees allowing the driver to be further tailored to the player’s optimum spin characteristics.

Now the technology is covered, let’s look at the three options available.

 Cobra Aerojet

Aerojet Driver

The Aerojet driver is designed to provide a medium launch with low spin to provide a neutral ball flight.

The Aerojet has a 12-gram weight positioned low in the back of the head to provide high stability.

Aerojet LS Driver

Designed for players who don’t struggle with generating club head speed.

Favouring a slight fade bias, the LS is designed to offer a low launch and low spin.

There is no weight at the back of the head like the standard Aerojet but there are two weights - 12-gram and 3-gram positioned close to the face on the sole of the club moving the centre of gravity up.

Aerojet Max Driver

The Aerojet Max driver is designed for those golfers who tend to leek the ball out to the right.

With similar design principles to the Aerojet driver - maximum stability and consistently higher ball speeds across the face the Max driver features adjustable weights in the back and heel of the sole.

We have all three heads available with lofts of 9, 10.5 and 12 degrees.

Cobra provides three stock shaft options which we have but you can also choose from our custom shaft options which can be further tailored with length, grip and weighting options.

Cobra Aerojet Fairway Woods

Aerojet fairway woods

Cobra has also taken the opportunity to update its fairway wood range by introducing the Aerojet fairway woods for 2023.

Three options are available which are:

  • Aerojet
  • Aerojet LS
  • Aerojet Max

The story for the fairway woods is similar to that of the drivers with the inclusion of the new PWR-Bridge weighting system and PWRSHELL with H.O.T Face technology.

Including these technologies allows Cobra to make each of the heads more stable and forgiving on off-centre hits without losing much in the way of ball speed.

Adjustable loft sleeves add to the idea of tailoring loft and spin characteristics to get the desired ball flight.

A carbon composite crown helps reduce weight in the head and will help deliver more club head speed

Aerojet

Similar to the driver the Aerojet fairway wood is engineered for maximum stability.

Featuring an 8-gram weight positioned at the back of the head pulling the centre of gravity as far back and as low as possible to give a medium launch and neutral ball flight.

Aerojet LS

The LS fairway woods offer two moveable weights in the heel and toe and closer to the face giving this fairway wood its low spin characteristics.

For the LS models, only 3 and 5 wood are offered.

Aerojet Max

This model will be a great option for those who struggle with missing their shots to the right.

In the standard set-up, the Aerojet Max has a 12-gram weight at the very back of the head with a 3-gram weight in the heel to allow the toe of the club to catch up with the heel and produce straighter shots.

Moving the 12-gram weight into the heel will help correct even more pronounced shots to the right.

We stock all versions of the Aerojet fairway line-up offering both the standard shafts fitted by Cobra or you can choose from our excellent range of custom shafts to build the ideal fairway wood for yourself.

Rounding out the Aerojet family is the Aerojet hybrid.

There is only one model available - the Aerojet hybrid which also features Cobra’s new technology of 2023 - PWR-Bridge weighting and PWRSHELL with H.O.T Face technology.

The Aerojet hybrid comes in a variety of lofts starting at 17 degrees and going up to 28 degrees.

This is a big year for launches from all the major manufacturers and Cobra hasn’t been left behind.

The Aerojet family will certainly build on Cobra’s reputation to offer clubs that compete with the biggest brands but without having to cost the same.
